We added several change options to customize our home and found Broughman’s suggestions and input invaluable in that process.

Considering that we entered into our project right at the onset of nationwide, regional and local complications due to the impact of CoVid on nearly every aspect of construction and supply chain, we felt Broughman’s, as an experienced company was able to reconfigure, realign and rethink their resources to make it magically all come together.

We decided to have our Pennwest home built by Brougham Builders and could not be happier. Our decision was not only based on many past visits to Brougham, but also on a very good recommendation from a local resident/businessman who had not even done business with Brougham. He regretted his decision to go with someone else and wished many times he had gone with Mike and his team based on all the above qualities he described to me and told me to “Go with Brougham Builders”. I’m very happy I listened. They did not falter in any aspect!!!
My wife and I are from out of state approximately 600 miles away, and needed someone we could trust 100%. From the beginning Mike & Daisy Wight and their team were there for us throughout the entire process. Garrett Henderson was/is our Home Consultant and has done an outstanding job throughout the entire build. Garrett was there for us thru every phase and followed thru immediately on every aspect, question, detail and concern. He never once failed in assisting us, updating us, and keeping tabs on everything. I can’t say enough about how Garrett was/is always there for us. He’s a good man that has your back. “Thank you Garrett”!!!! Even after the home was finished, Garrett and the team are always there for us when minor details need to be addressed. You are never forgotten after the final closing. They are always there for you. As Mike Wight says “Welcome, and you are now part of the Brougham family”. Very True!!!
Another great thing is the fact that if you need to speak with the President/Owner of the company you can call Mike Wight and you can be sure he will either answer his phone personally or get back to you. Mike will never leave you hanging. Mike was kind enough to come look at a property we wanted to purchase to build our home on. He approved, and did not try to push us in a different direction or try to sell us other parcels. Mike goes over every aspect of the build process, he is fully licensed and insured, provides a very thorough contract. He provides upfront costs which hold true and allowances which can fluctuate based on personal choices or items that can change based on construction cost ie: well depth, Electric, propane lines etc. Mike describes in detail how these allowances can be influenced so there are no surprises.
As we all know deadlines come and go during the build and Mike was upfront with the problematic ones so you weren’t left in the dark when the power company took their time to hook up the home. Don’t forget Mother Nature can also influence the time frame. Overall, we did not experience any surprises and knew what we were facing based on Mike’s honesty. In the end Mike personally came out to do an inspection with us and noted all details that need to be addressed. In our case most of the minor details Mike found were addressed and completed that same day.
Mike has an amazing staff to include his wife Daisy, Garrett Henderson, Peter Laplant, Zach Christian, and his building staff most of which we have met at times during the build process. All are wonderful people and great to deal with. They care about you and follow thru with every concern and detail. We wish to say “Thank you!” to all of you and to say “Great Job”.
So, if you’re looking for a builder you can TRUST and be able to sleep well throughout the process without worry, especially if you’re out of state and want a home in Maine, go with Brougham Builders. You won’t regret your decision.

Thank you for the lovely hand-made sign you sent us! What a pleasant surprise! It's terrific!

I can't believe it's almost a full year since the project ended. This past summer was terrific on Swan Lake. We have a great house, an epic porch, and loads of great memories already. And, two doors down we have new neighbors with kids who all have become quick friends.

Thank you for your partnership, your patience, your collective expertise, and for the sign! We'll find just the right spot when we head back up to our happy place..

If you are in the market for a new home, please take a moment to read our review of Broughman Builders, Inc. Our journey to new home ownership began in 2016. The idea of building seemed way too strenuous to entertain, but the end result of having the home we wanted in the neighborhood we chose was appealing. We researched stick-built versus modular, read countless reviews of contractors and local modular dealers, and spent days walking through display homes. It only took one day, one tour through a model home, and a few minutes talking with Nick and Tony to decide our future home path with Broughman Builders, Inc. Throughout this journey, the crew at BBI has been fantastic. Each member of their team has been warm and welcoming and simplified the whole process. From the moment the offer was accepted on the land (thanks Daisy!), we received consistent calls, texts and emails to let us know where we were in the process and what our next steps were. When an issue with our land came up, Mike had already put his negotiation skills to work with our future neighbors and the town, to then contact us with the best resolution. We were blown away that it was all taken care of! Nick and Tony helped us with every design detail to ensure our new home displayed our style while sticking to our budget. They made some recommendations along the way (positioning of doors and exterior items we hadn't thought of) and it worked out great. Daisy and Dawn both stayed on top of every detail our loan processors requested and kept us on track. Did we mention they have the BEST warranty we could find?! One call, text or email, and this crew is on it. This team of hard-working, honest and thoughtful home experts will help you every step of the way; you won't be sorry you chose them! Broughman Builders is an exceptional company that provides wonderful service, but it is the people who work there and their involvement in every aspect of the process, that make it a company that we would recommend to anyone.

Daisy and Mike Wight listened to what I wanted in a new kitchen and an upstairs bathroom. The designs were professionally drafted and adjusted to my likes. The construction did not begin until all items that were ordered were delivered. Daisy was very helpful and knowledgeable when picking colors of tiles so that all aspects of the kitchen complimented one another. Staff was on hand to take delivery at my home. Very respectful to me and my space. Garage was swept and organized at the end of each day.

The crew oversaw all construction in my home, including an excellent finish carpenter, well organized and a has great attention to detail.

The office was always available for any questions/concerns.

I could go on and on about how pleased I am with this company and the individuals involved. I will forward photos when I get someone to help me transfer from camera to lap top.

I am in awe of my new kitchen everyday and what treat to go from bedroom to shower upstairs.

This past spring we ordered a New England Home from Broughman Builders, in Ellsworth, Maine, to be set on our lot here in Detroit, Maine.

Dear Broughman Builders and Pennwest Homes:

We want to extend our thanks to Pennwest for the wonderful experience we had in bulding a second home earlier this year.

We bought some acreage outside of Bangor, Maine two years ago and when the time came for us to build, we chose Mike Wight of Broughman Builders in Ellsworth, Maine. We originallly planned to build a stick-built home and got well into the planning with Mike, but some financial constraints led us to abandon that plan. Mike didn't let us give up, though, instead he showed us how he could get us a home that met our needs through a custom Pennwest modular.

The speed in which he developed the final plans and pricing, and arranged for the site work and the permits was amazing -- and true to his word, we were able to build a charming home that met all our needs and still stay within our budget.

We were reluctant at first to consider a modular home, but Mike took us through the models at his headquarters and showed us all the features and construction methods in great detail. We were surprised and delighted with what we saw, so we made the decision to go forward, and a very good decision that was.

We love our new Pennwest home -- we appreciate the details of the rope design crown molding on the kitchen cabinets and we like the satin nickel fixtures. the stone-clad fireplace lends a warm feel as well. We were thrilled to have taken occupancy in early summer -- the whole process went quickly and smoothly. The Broughman crew was amazing -- they demonstrated true concern for us being happy in our new home and did everything possible to ensure that end. We have previously built a home, and extensively renovated two others, and while we have always had excellent contractors, Mike Wight surpassed our expectations in every way. Pennwest could not have a finer partner here in Maine!

As far as the house, it is absolutely unbelievable. I know you know that, but it truly is amazing. You told me the day we set it that it should be a little bit sooner that 8 weeks until we were moved in and it ended up being 7 weeks. You answered every question that Kim, myself or either of our fathers had to ask you. We have had a great experience with your company and have nothing but GREAT things to say about you guys.
